Christmas Appeals

Father Christmas loves to spend time with our lovely groups of Special Needs children and their family every Christmas. This is a project aimed at bringing Special Needs and Disability families together to network during festive seasons. The purpose is to reduce isolation, which is a huge challenge where Special Needs and Disability is concerned.

Literacy Support Projects

‘A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies… The man who never reads, lives only one’, George R. R. Martin.

For many of the young people who benefit from our Literacy support programs, reading is the key which opens the door to so many possibilities and alternative realities in life.

Regardless of the cognitive abilities and socio-economic status of our beneficiaries, Sparklers has a vision to open new doors, dreams to challenge them and wings to fly to their designated heights in life.

We enjoy doing this in partnership with other dedicated organisations. Sparklers identifies areas of most need in the community and supports by providing books, learning resources, volunteering and providing training for volunteers on the assessment and management of specific learning difficulties encountered during literacy projects.

Outdoor Time for families

Recreational and relaxing outdoor events for families helps to improve the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of the children, young people and families which we support.

The stigma attached to Autism and other Special Needs in some countries makes it challenging for families to step out boldly into the community with their disabled family member.

Events such as these enable families to develop confidence as they learn to come into the community and explore outdoor events with other families in a similar position as themselves. With time, families begin to feel empowered enough to begin to go out on their own as a family.

Therapeutic Provision Links

Sparklers is dedicated to the holistic development of the individuals and families we support. One of our main umbrellas of care is the provision of therapeutic care and linking up with other organisations which are passionate about meeting the therapeutic needs of individuals with additional needs.

Our Ghana team also uses linking visits as an opportunity to help meet some of the basic needs of individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disability.
